Rolling Tide Meditation Group – This is a Zen Buddhist group who have been meeting regularly in Yealand Conyers for over 12 years; now starting meetings at the Quaker Meeting House in Lancaster. 6.30 p.m., some Thursdays. Serene Reflection (Zen) Meditation Group follows the Soto Zen tradition, and has been meeting on Mondays at 7.30pm at Lancaster Friends Meeting House for many years. Regular introductory sessions are held on every second Monday of the month (please just turn up). Meetings include sitting meditation (Zazen), walking meditation, reflections and discussions on practice, and applying it in daily life. The group has links with Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey. Taize Services – These take place at Lancaster Methodist Church, Scotforth Road. The candlelit service includes meditative singing, a time of silence and a Bible reading. The chants are simple and easy to learn and you don’t need to be a musician or a good singer to join in, but for those who would like to, meet at 7.30 to have a quick run through the songs before the service starts at 8pm. The service is based on Christian tradition, open to all, from any faith background or none.
